EDMONTON — Intent on prodding the roster players into playing form, rather than taking a prolonged look at more prospects, the Edmonton Oilers have ushered out another nine players.

Goaltender Devan Dubnyk as well as forwards Adam Huxley, Liam Reddox, Tim Sestitio, Tyler Spurgeon and Viacheslav Trukhno were assigned to the club's American Hockey League affiliate in Springfield.

Centre Ryan Potulny and winger Carl Corazzini were placed on waivers, while Guillaume Lefebvre was released outright, leaving 28 players in camp.

"We had to reduce the amount of players we have here to get down to a more workable number. That was pretty clear last night," head coach Craig MacTavish said.

The Oilers, spanked 4-0 by the Calgary Flames on Tuesday, will meet their provincial foes again in Calgary on Friday. They play their final pre-season game Sunday in Dallas.
