Ducks' Selanne undergoes hand surgery

Anaheim, CA (Sports Network) - The Anaheim Ducks club will be without one of their top scoring threats for 4-to-6 weeks after veteran winger Teemu Selanne broke a bone in his left hand during Thursday's loss to the Stars and underwent surgery to correct the problem.
Selanne, tied for the team lead in goals with 14, took a Karlis Skrastins slap shot off the hand during the second period and did not return to the 3-1 setback.
X-rays taken revealed a fracture around the knuckle on his left middle finger, and Selanne underwent a successful procedure to correct the problem on Friday in Los Angeles.
The veteran of 16-plus NHL seasons has also posted seven assists through 27 games and is the club's third-leading scorer. His presence will be missed on a number of levels as half his goals thus far have come on the power play while four have been game-winners.
The Ducks entered Friday's action last in the Western Conference with a 10-13-4 record.
