The former Montreal Canadien is one of the highest-profile players still on the market, but Tanguay's agent said he and his client are in no rush to sign a contract.

"We're still looking at everything, trying to find the best situation for him," agent Robert Sauve told the South Florida Sun-Sentinel. "We're going to take a little more time. We have a feeling we're close with some teams, but we don't know how much time it's going to take to finalize."

A shoulder injury limited Tanguay to 50 games with the Canadiens last season, but he still managed 16 goals and 25 assists.

Sauve said the Panthers are one of a few teams he's spoken with about Tanguay's services and said some offers have been made.

Rangers, Coyotes swap wingers

The New York Rangers and Phoenix Coyotes swapped wingers Monday as Lauri Korpikoski heads to the desert and Enver Lisin is off to Manhattan.

Korpikoski, 22, had six goals and eight assists in 68 games with the Rangers last season. Lisin, 23, potted 13 goals and eight assists in 48 games with the Coyotes.

Canucks extend Arniel

The Vancouver Canucks announced on Monday they have agreed to a three-year contract extension with Scott Arniel, head coach of their American Hockey League affiliate Manitoba Moose.

"Scott has done an outstanding job with our top prospects that are playing in Winnipeg," Canucks general manager Mike Gillis said in a statement. "He and his staff prepare our young players for the challenges of the NHL and we are thrilled that he will continue to teach and develop future Canucks this upcoming season."

Arniel will enter his fourth season as head coach of the Moose after guiding the team to their most successful season in franchise history. In 2008-09, the Moose set a number of franchise records including the most regular-season wins (50) and the most road wins (25), while tying the franchise mark for the most home wins in one season (25). They lost in the AHL final to the Hershey Bears.

Wisniewski signs on with Ducks

James Wisniewski avoided arbitration, signing at one-year deal with the Anaheim Ducks worth $2.75 million US.

The blue-liner, acquired by the Ducks at the trade deadline from the Chicago Blackhawks, had three goals and 21 assists in 48 games split between the two teams last season.

"Sometimes it's rough coming off a bunch of one-year deals," Wisniewski told reporters in a conference call.

"(But) I can understand where (Ducks general manager) Bob (Murray) and the Ducks are coming from. They want to see my play a season of injury-free hockey. That is what I have to do and then hopefully I can become a Duck for a long time after that."

Callahan re-signs with Rangers

The New York Rangers have agreed to terms with forward Ryan Callahan.

Callahan, 24, established career-highs in games played (81), goals (22), assists (18), points (40), and penalty minutes (45) last season. He also won the Steven McDonald Award, voted by the fans as the player who performs "above and beyond the call of duty."

Callahan ranked second on the team with a career-high, 237 shots, first with a plus-7 rating and tied for fourth on the club in goals. In addition, he led the team and ranked fourth in the NHL with 265 hits.

Callahan has skated in 147 career regular-season games in three seasons with the Rangers, registering 34 goals and 25 assists for 59 points, along with 85 penalty minutes.

Habs sign Swedish forward

The Montreal Canadiens have signed forward Andreas Engqvist to a three-year contract.

Last season, the 6-3, 196-pound centre had nine goals and seven assists in 31 games with Djurgardens IF of the Swedish Elite League.

A wrist injury forced the Stockholm native out of the lineup for the team's last 24 regular-season games.

Engqvist, 21, has played a total of 126 games with Djurgardens IF, scoring 15 goals and 17 assists.

Engqvist participated in the Canadiens' development camp last week at the Bell Sports Complex in suburban Montreal.

Tanguay has become a specialist for hire on temporary bases. It's too bad, this trend because he's a skilled player and not that old. His agents are on the right track trying to secure stable employment.

It's never too late to offer Lang a one year deal to come back. The Habs need at least one veteran in the lockerroom.

That $7 mil take home pay of Bettman's is just what's on paper. That guy is probably fleecing the league for twice that amount. Thieving little elf!

Lang, right on! Sign up Robert Lang for another year. He likes living in Montreal and was about the only one who showed any excitement about playing there. We need his depth. By the way, guys, lighten up on Gainey. What do you want, Reggie Houle to come back?
