Savannah King is returning to the Olympic Games for the second time after being nominated for the 400m and the 800m freestyle events following the 2012 Canadian Olympic Swimming Trials.
King won her first international medals the 2007 Pan American Games in Rio de Janerio, where she swam the 800m freestyle in a personal best time of 8:39.36 to claim the bronze medal. She was also part of the 4x200m freestyle team that won silver.
Since Beijing, King has competed at the 2009 World Championships in Rome, 2010 Pan Pacific Championships in California, and the 2011 World Championships in Shanghai. She also swims for the University of British Colombia.
In her spare time, King enjoys playing badminton, volleyball, basketball and rock climbing. She has a couple of lucky charms that she brings to competitions such as a stuffed Kangaroo from Australia, and a four-leaf clover.
