MONTREAL - Italians Sara Errani and Roberta Vinci form the No. 1 doubles team on the WTA Tour, and that's where their focus will be after they were eliminated Monday in the first round of the singles at the Rogers Cup Canadian Open women's tennis championships.

Errani, the 2012 French Open finalist, was seeded 13th here, but she lost to Germany's Sabine Lisicki 6-1, 7-5 in the day's opening match in Uniprix Stadium. Lisicki took advantage of Errani's erratic serving in the first set and overpowered her. Errani rallied to take a 3-0 lead in the second set, but she was unable to maintain the momentum.

Vinci, who is ranked 25th in the world, lost to No. 37 Barbora Zahlavova-Strycova of the Czech Republic 7-5.7-5.

There will be a Quebec flavour to the evening program Monday. Montrealer Francoise Abanda, the youngest player in the draw at 17, plays 10th-seeded Dominika Cibulkova of Slovakia at 6 p.m. That will be followed by a match between Aleksandra Wozniak of Blainville and American Sloane Stephens.

Your voice
How are you finding your favourite teams on Rogers new TV package?

Just fine, no problems
I am baffled by all the choices and the different channels
My team is blacked out sometimes
No worries, I have NHL Centre Ice
Doesn't matter, my team sucks
