VANCOUVER — The Vancouver Giants selected defenceman Dmitri Osipov with the first overall pick in the 2013 Canadian Hockey League Import Draft on Wednesday.

The 6-3, 190 pound defenceman from Russia was drafted first overall in the 2013 Kontinental Hockey League Junior Draft by Amur Khabarovsk, according to a news release.

With their second pick in the draft, the Giants selected forward Andreas Eder 61st overall.

The 6-2, 179-pound German played for the EC Bad Tölz Under-18 team of the German Development League in 2012-13, where he registered 22 points (10 goals, 12 assists) in 19 games. The 17 year-old Eder also played 26 games for EC Bad Tölz of the Oberliga and registered six points (two goals, four assists).
