VANCOUVER — The struggling Vancouver Giants moved another veteran player Friday when they traded 19-year-old forward Nathan Burns to the Saskatoon Blades for centre Travis McEvoy, 18, and a pair of draft picks.

The Blades, who are the host team for the 2013 Memorial Cup, included a 2013 third-round bantam selection and a 2014 first-rounder to complete the deal.

Burns was in his fourth year with the Giants and was converted this season to centre from his normal left-wing position.

McEvoy, listed at 6-0 and 211 pounds, is expected to be in the Giants' lineup Saturday when they face the Kootenay Ice. A native of Thorsby, Alta., McEvoy had four assists in 13 games with the Blades. He had 11 points last season, his first in the WHL.

Both the Giants (4-11-0-0) and Blades (6-9-0-0) are off to poor starts and sit last in their respective divisions.
