The Vancouver Giants were unable build a two-game winning streak Friday as they fell 3-1 to the visiting Swift Current Broncos in Western Hockey League play before a crowd of 8,115 at Pacific Coliseum.
The Broncos opened up a 2-0 first-period lead on goals by Levi Bews, a former Giant, and Ryon Moser. Giants centre Riley Kieser scored midway through the second to halve the Broncos’ advantage but Swift Current captain Adam Lowry restored his team’s two-goal margin with a shorthanded penalty-shot goal a little more than three minutes later.
The last-place Giants fell to 8-21-0-0. They are back in action Saturday night, facing the Silvertips in Everett, before returning home Sunday to face the B.C. Division-leading Kamloops Blazers in a 4 p.m. start.
