Edmonton Oiler free agents list
Pending unrestricted free agents will have to wait until July 5 this summer to sign elsewhere. The date has been bumped back from July 1.
In June, the Edmonton Oilers will have to offer their restricted free agents qualifying offers if they want to retain their rights. For those players making $660,000 or less, that means an automatic 10-per-cent bump in pay while those making up to but not more than $1 million get an offer with 105 per cent of this year’s salary. Players exceeding $1 million must be offered at least the equivalent of their current deal. If the offer is rejected, the team still retains the rights to the player.
Players who do not receive qualifying offers become UFAs.
Also, the Oilers will have the option in June to activate two compliance buyouts. The team will have to fork out either a third or two thirds of the salary (the amount is determined by the contract), but the expense will not count against the salary cap.
The cap ceiling in 2013-14 will be $64.3 million.
