Flames shuffle more players to minors
The Calgary Flames announced the assignment of five more players to the Abbotsford Heat of the American Hockey League.
This morning, forwards Akim Aliu, Paul Byron, Krys Kolanos, Ben Walter, and defenceman Joe Piskula got their marching orders.
Regardless of a National Hockey League work stoppage, the Heat's camp opens Sept. 28 in Abbotsford.
Assigned Friday to the Heat were:
* Defencemen -- Chris Breen, T.J. Brodie, James Martin, Brady Lamb
* Left wingers -- Sven Baertsch, Carter Bancks, Lance Bouma, Tyler Elson, Michael Ferland
* Right wingers -- Bryan Cameron David Eddy, Ryan Howse, Greg Nemisz
* Centres -- Roman Horak, Gaelan Patterson, Max Reinhart, Ben Street, Mitch Wahl Additionally, goalie Joni Ortio has been assigned to HIFK Helsinki of the Finnish elite league.
