Flames’ future on display at this week’s prospect camp

The Calgary Flames’ future hits the ice Thursday.

For their annual development camp, the Flames are bringing in 44 prospects (five goalies, 12 defencemen, 27 forwards), including the highly-regarded likes of Johnny Gaudreau, Sven Baertschi, Jon Gillies, Sean Monahan, Reto Berra, Corban Knight and Morgan Klimchuk.

Eleven players, including Calgary Hitmen winger Pavlo Padakin, are attending on a tryout basis.

Wednesday, players undergo fitness testing at the University of Calgary.

Thursday and Friday, on-ice sessions are scheduled for 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. at the WinSport Ice Complex.

Saturday, there is a 10 a.m. scrimmage.

Sunday features practices at 10 and 11:30 a.m., while Monday, the players scrimmage at 10 a.m.

Camp concludes on Tuesday, July 16 with a pair of practices, 9 and 10 a.m.

All sessions are open to the public.

The players:

* Goalies (5): Laurent Brossoit, Joni Ortio, Brody Hoffman, Reto Berra, Jon Gillies.

* Defencemen (12): Ryan Culkin, John Gilmour, Curtis Leonard, Trey Lewis, James Martin, Eric Roy, Keegan Kanzig, Brett Kulak, Drew MacKenzie, John Ramage, Patrick Sieloff, Tyler Wotherspoon.

* Centres (11): Noel Acciari, Matt DeBlouw, Roman Horak, Corban Knight, Sean Monahan, Bill Arnold, Markus Granlund, Mark Jankowski, Josh Jooris, Dan O’Donoghue, Max Reinhart.

* Left-wingers (7): Michael Ferland, Johnny Gaudreau, Morgan Klimchuk, Bryce Van Brabant, Ken Agostino, Sven Baertschi, Turner Elson.

* Right-wingers (9): Austin Carroll, Ben Hanowski, Tim Harrison, Ryan Howse, Pavlo Padakin, David Eddy, Coda Gordon, Linden Penner, Emile Poirier.
