The Calgary Flames have a new ECHL affiliate.

The National Hockey League team announced Tuesday that the Colorado Eagles will be the team’s new ‘AA’ minor league squad and will provide players to the American Hockey League’s Adirondack Flames, Calgary’s primary development team.

The new one-year affiliation agreement takes Calgary’s ECHL team out of Alaska; the Aces, which captured the league title last spring, had been the Flames’ ‘AA’ development squad in 2013-14. Before that, the Flames had a four-year pact with the Utah Grizzlies.

The Eagles are based out of Loveland, Colo. — a small city located about an hour north of Denver.
