Royal’s Open history: This is the 10th time the Canadian Open has been played at Royal Montreal, most recently in 2001. The inaugural Open was held at Royal’s Dixie layout in 1904, winner J.H. Oke pocketing $60.

Defending champion: Brandt Snedeker.

Entry: 156 professional and amateur golfers from 16 nations, including Canada, United States, Scotland, Argentina, Brazil, India, Ireland, New Zealand, South Korea, Venezuela, South Africa, Fiji, Sweden, Australia, England, Colombia.

Canadian entry: 15, including PGA Tour players Graham DeLaet of Weyburn, Sask., David Hearn of Brantford, Ont., Brad Fritsch of Manotick, Ont., Stephen Ames of Calgary, and Mike Weir of Bright’s Grove, Ont.
