Kuzma: Canucks have that killer instinct

Everyone’s buying in to the PK system, and even taking a few offensive chances

The lament from Willie Desjardins was understandable when asked to assess what led to a recent short-handed breakaway goal by Jannik Hansen. For Shawn Matthias to spring the dashing Dane last Wednesday in Edmonton, it took effort and imagination. After getting a stick in the lane and intercepting a pass in his own zone, the Vancouver Canucks winger patiently held on to the puck instead of instinctively dumping it down the ice. He then got his head up in a hurry to thread a perfect pass through the neutral zone to his speeding teammate. Dangerous but effective. And entertaining for the masses but not Desjardins.
