EDMONTON - Canadian driver Alex Tagliani has long wrestled with a nut allergy so severe that earlier this season, he even reacted to a hotel shampoo that contained sweet almond oil.
Needless to say, he’s diligent about what he eats — something Quebec’s La Petite Bretonne bakery embraced. They are not only whipping up his new Tag on the Go packaged cookies, they went so far as to add an extension to their factory that does not produce anything with nuts.
The oatmeal and oatmeal/chocolate snacks are how available in Canada with U.S. distribution planned for the fall.
Go Daddy. Go Danica
You have to admire James Hinchcliffe’s ingenuity.
Not only did the 25-year-old from Oakville, Ont. take over for Danica Patrick in the GoDaddy.com sponsored car, he has managed to replace her on the company’s website.
Hinchcliffe launched his own “Hinch for Homepage” campaign that eventually got the attention of GoDaddy and by the Memorial Day weekend, a nationally televised commercial aired starring both drivers.
Patrick is now racing in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series. GoDaddy.com is still her sponsor.
Speed? Yes. Heights? Not so much
Indy Lights driver Tristan Vautier went to Toronto with a particular side trip in mind. He wanted to walk across the glass floor of the CN Tower.
“I went in 2010 and I was too scared to walk up on the glass floor,” he said after his trek 1,122 feet above the ground.
Lights. Camera. Action
IndyCar, Indianpolis Motor Speedway and Dream Works Animation are behind Turbo, an animated feature film that will be released next July.
Dario Franchitti will serve as the technical director.
As for the plot, it revolves around an ordinary garden snail that dreams of winning the Indianapolis 500.
