Ottawa police said Wednesday a 27-year-old Ottawa man faces a number of charges following stabbing that occurred during a fight near Raphael Brunet Park Tuesday night.

they have arrested a suspect in connection with a stabbing Tuesday night near Raphael Brunet Park shortly after 8 p.m. Tuesday.

A 37-year-old man suffered “significant blood loss,” was treated at the scene and taken to the trauma centre where he was reported to be in serious condition.

His condition was upgraded to stable through the night.

He was found at the corner of Cumberland Street and Guigues Avenue, near Raphael Brunet Park. The park is the location of Overdose Prevention Ottawa’s safe injection site.

“It’s not related to us, but it was in the area,” said OPO’s James Hutt.

Following the stabbing police cordoned off part of St. Patrick Street, and eventually located the suspect. A weapon was also found.

Police say Shawn Satterly has been charged with aggravated assault, possession of a weapon, four counts of breach of recognizance and drug possession.
