NHL superstar Alex Ovechkin and the Washington Capitals captured their first Stanley Cup Thursday night with a 4-3 win over the Vegas Golden Knights in Game 5 of the final.

The Cup victory win filled a hole in Ovechkin’s otherwise stellar hockey resume that includes three Hart Trophies, three Ted Lindsay Awards, seven Rocket Richard Trophies, and a Calder Trophy.
The championship was also a franchise first for the Capitals, who had been Cup-less since joining the league in 2974.

Still, many were hoping the Golden Knights could complete their Cinderella run and capture the Stanley Cup in their expansion season.
