Dashing through the ... no: Grumpy Cat's Christmas movie is coming soon to a TV screen near you
UPDATE: There's a new Christmas Grinch in town. That's right, the paw-some "Grumpy Cat's Worst Christmas Ever" trailer has officially been released.
The made-in-Vancouver Lifetime cable movie features the internet sensation, Grumpy Cat, voiced by "Parks and Recreation" star Aubrey Plaza.
The TV movie premiers Saturday, Nov. 29, at 8 p.m. on Lifetime.
Filming is expected to start in Vancouver next month for a holiday movie featuring online sensation Grumpy Cat.
The paw-some feline is starring in Grumpy Cat’s Worst Christmas Ever, which will be shown on Lifetime TV. According to reports, filming in Vancouver is expected to last almost a month.
In the movie, Grumpy Cat is a lonely cat living in a mall pet shop. She is always passed over and develops a sour outlook on life until a 12-year-old girl falls in love with her. The girl discovers that she is the only person who can hear Grumpy Cat talk.
During the holiday rush, Grumpy Cat thwarts the kidnapping of an expensive dog she can’t stand and rescues the girl who loves her after the mall closes on Christmas Eve.
Grumpy Cat’s real name is Tardar Sauce and she lives in Arizona. She’s an Internet celebrity with more than 6.2 million likes on Facebook and has been named most influential cat by MSNBC and most important cat by Mashable and Buzzfeed.
She is also the “author” of two books, the second of which is coming out next month, has numerous merchandising deals and is the Friskies spokescat.
If you need a stronger dose of Internet cats, consider heading to the Just for Cats: Internet Cat Video Festival Aug. 19 to Sept. 1 at the Rogers Digital Venue in Celebration Plaza at the PNE. The première will take place on Aug. 17 at 5 p.m. at Pacific Coliseum.
