If Steve MacIntyre could go another round with Eric Goddard, he says he would, but he can't even get into the Edmonton Oilers lineup any time soon.

A CT scan revealed a fractured orbital bone, which will keep the rookie enforcer off the ice. He will be re-evaluated when the team returns to Edmonton to determine if he will require surgery.

Zack Stortini will draw into the lineup tonight against the New Jersey Devils. The Oilers were also considering the addition of a farmhand.

General manager Steve Tambellini was in Hartford on Saturday to watch the Springfield Falcons play the Wolf Pack.

"He caught me with a good hard punch. That's how it goes," said MacIntyre of Thursday's first-period scrap with the Pittsburgh Penguins veteran.

"But it's not going to keep me down. After it heals, I'll be back in the saddle again." The purple puffiness around his eye, along with the stitches above it, were what MacIntyre was left with after his scrap with the Penguins heavyweight. MacIntyre did come back, laid out Kris Letang with an open-ice hit, then tried to get Goddard to go again. He knew he had taken a shot in the head but it wasn't until he blew his nose and his face ballooned that he knew something was wrong. He did not return -- much to his chagrin.

"That's just the way I am. I don't like to lose, especially scrapping, so I was ready to get at 'er again. That's the way I was taught. If you get bucked off you get right back up again." "There are a lot of tough lessons in the NHL and I think the lesson Steve takes away is that he has to fight defensively as well," head coach Craig MacTavish said.

"He's had a lot of success just pounding guys and when you fight a guy as capable as Goddard, and there's probably seven or eight others in that category, it's not a negative to survive it and fight a more tactical fight than he did.

"He wasn't very concerned defensively -- and in a fight like that you need to be." Goddard and MacIntyre had fought in the Western Hockey League and in the American Hockey League.

"I can't wait to get to the next one maybe just to prove that, hey, you can knock me down, but you won't get rid of me."m
