San Jose, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - The San Jose Sharks re-signed restricted free agent forward James Sheppard to a one-year contract on Tuesday.

Sheppard posted four goals and 16 assists for 20 points in 67 games last season. In seven postseason games with San Jose, Sheppard registered two goals and four assists.

"James has worked tremendously hard and earned himself a key role on our team last season," said Sharks general manager Doug Wilson. "His perseverance and dedication make him a valuable asset to our organization going forward."

The 26-year-old Sheppard has appeared in 323 career regular season NHL games, registering 73 points on 16 goals and 57 assists.
