"We've contacted the team involved and sent out a letter. We've given them a week to respond," said Peter Woods, executive director of Hockey Manitoba.

Concerned parents reported that 13- and 14-year-old players on the team were drinking at a party after winning the provincial rural championships on March 7.

Some reports say beer was consumed.

Woods said his organization is investigating the reports, but he is concerned local media have blown it out of proportion.

Neepawa is about two hours west of Winnipeg.
