Cons

Crosby

The league should focus its attention to growing the game within NHL cities.

The league should try and find grassroots initiatives to make money.

The trip is a publicity stunt.

The trip is too demanding when paired with the start of a grueling NHL season.

Star players run the risk of getting hurt.

agree with LB. the only shock is that the owners (or a majority of the owners) think he is doing a good job. why that is i do not know, unless you count adding to the number of money-losing franchises in the states and not having any tv contract money as success. if the owners think that is a good job, i think they should tip the waiter that gets their order wrong or pay double to the contractor who shows up to their house drunk. that is the kind of performance level they seem to admire.

THE NHL SHOULD START IN NAMERICAN SITES AS OPPOSEDTO EUROPE..MAYBE A MINI TOURNAMENT WUD BE APPROPRIATE IN FUTURE.I THINK CANADIAN CITIES SUCH AS HALIFAX ,WINNIPEG & SASKATOON SHUD BE CONSIDERED FOR MORE EXHIBITION GAMES WITH SOMETIME ANOTHER CANADIAN FRANCHISE ESTABLISHED.THANX

The only reason it is in Europe right now is because Bettman is feeling a little "penis" envy in regards to the KHL. If any teams were to relocate to Europe, it should be the teams that are struggling financially. Nashville, Columbus, Florida, Phoenix, LA, etc. Teams that won't be missed. As to starting teams in Europe, I don't like the idea. While watching the games broadcast from Europe. A lot of the fans were really quiet. It was almost quiet enough to hear crickets chirping. Although the arenas may have been filled to capacity, the interest in the fans was almost non-existent.

there will never be nhl hockey in winipeg, halifax, etc. because their is no large corporations for sponsorship, no infrastructure, no world class accomadations for spoiled rich hockey players there. fans in the seats dont pay todays salaries and operating costs. do the math 20,000 fans at every game wont pay the bills. its all about coporate sponsorship, luxury boxes etc. if you pay players 5-10 million dollars each, you can never sell enough seats..
