There have been some hits and misses over the last 10 years of drafting. Here is the list.

New York Islanders rookie John Tavares was long picked as the next great NHLer. In his two seasons, he has 54 and 67 points.
Steven Stamkos of the Tampa Bay Lightning was the first pick in 2008. After an average rookie year, Stamkos has scored more than 90 points in each of the last two seasons.
Patrick Kane, Chicago Blackhawks number one pick in 2007 has already won a Stanley Cup ring, scoring the winning goal in the finals vs. the Flyers in 2010.
Sidney Crosby of the Pittsburgh Penguins. The first overall pick from 2005 has won a Stanley Cup and scored the golden goal for Team Canada in the 2010 Olympics.
Alexander Ovechkin of the Washington Capitals has been a dynamic player but hasn't yet won a championship. He has 614 points in only 475 NHL games.
Canada's Rick Nash during the 2010 Olympics. Full-time for the Columbus Blue Jackets, Nash has scored almost 500 points.
Ilya Kovalchuk of the New Jersey Devils was chosen first overall by the Atlanta Thrashers before being traded to New Jersey and made headlines with a 15-year $100 million contract last off-season.
