Cammalleri nets Canadiens’ 20,000th goal

OTTAWA -- Michael Cammalleri got his name etched in the Montreal Canadiens’ record book Monday night at Scotiabank Place.

The winger opened the scoring for the Canadiens in a 4-2 loss to the Ottawa Senators and his goal was the 20,000th in the franchise’s history.

“For me, I appreciate the romantic side of sports and it’s doesn’t get any more romantic than the Montreal Canadiens,” said Cammalleri, who earlier had another big moment when he had a hat trick in the Canadiens’ centennial game. “I’ll never underestimate the importance of that goal. It’s a very special thing.”
